Os Quadrinhos na Era Digital: HQtrônicas, webcomics e cultura participativa

Title in free translation: "Comics in the Digital Age: comictronics, webcomics, and participatory culture."

Os Quadrinhos na Era Digital

The internet has driven a revolution in how comics are consumed and produced. From the first HQtrônicas (or “comictronics”, a term coined by Edgar Franco for works that combine traditional comics language with the possibilities of hypermedia) to today’s webcomics, the phenomenon has taken many forms. This book gathers studies by twelve researchers, ranging from online comic strips and comics in cyberculture to rage comics and the ways manga fans interact with their favorite works, such as fansubbing and scanlation.

This was Marsupial Editora’s debut title, launched during the 2nd International Comics Conference, at the University of São Paulo (USP). Lucio Luiz organized the volume and also contributed a chapter of his own on the phenomenon of memes and rage comics.
