The podcast is an audio medium closely tied to the internet, yet it shares a lot with a “classic” game from the 1980s, when kids used cassette recorders to make their own “radio shows.” The difference is that now the whole world can listen to those shows, and what started as a simple “game” can even become a profession. Even today, plenty of people record podcasts purely for fun, and those who have turned it into a career still genuinely enjoy what they do. Recorded solo or with a group of friends, built around a music selection or an informal chat, polished in editing or kept deliberately “raw,” the podcast takes countless forms. That’s why this book brings together ten people from Brazil’s podcasting community to share their personal opinions and perceptions of this medium, thinking about the podcast as a means of communication and, why not, of socializing.
In 2023, nearly ten years after its release, the book was adapted into an audio version, produced by Rádiofobia Podcast e Multimídia in partnership with Marsupial Editora. In it, nine of the ten co-authors perform their own texts and update information on how Brazilian podcasting evolved over the following decade.
