Aqui e Acolá: histórias dos dois lados do Atlântico is an anthology organized by Lucio Luiz and published by Jupati Books on November 10, 2015, during FIQ, the International Comics Festival of Belo Horizonte. The book starts from a simple idea: in Brazil, comics are called “histórias em quadrinhos”; in Portugal, “banda desenhada.” But the name matters far less than the shared passion Brazilians and Portuguese have for the ninth art. The collection brings together eight creators (four from each country) forming “international” pairs, in which the writer of one nationality works with an artist from the other, creating brand new stories.
The Brazilian authors are Brão Barbosa, Laudo Ferreira, Mario Cau, and Samanta Flôor; the Portuguese authors are Carla Rodrigues, João Mascarenhas, Osvaldo Medina, and Pedro Serpa. The book was a finalist for the 2016 HQ Mix Trophy, in the best mixed publication category.
