This book examines how research on comics tends to frame the teacher as someone who already has a natural inclination toward using comics, without ever questioning the teacher’s actual interest or even whether they consider comics a genuinely important or relevant tool. In response, this research investigates the social representations of Basic Education teachers regarding their own teaching practice when using comics in the classroom.
The book is based on Lucio Luiz’s doctoral thesis in Education, defended in 2018. Drawing on interviews with teachers and grounded in Social Representations and Argumentation theories, the work seeks to understand how teachers actually perceive and use comics as an educational tool.
